Study Guide & Programme Information
The Study Guide provides a complete overview of the International LL.B. programme, including the academic calendar, programme structure, course descriptions, assessment methods, student support services, and practical information for your studies at the Faculty of Law. It is updated annually and serves as the primary reference document for all enrolled and prospective students.
The academic year starts on September 1 every year and ends on August 31 of the following year.
An Induction Week at the end of September to early October welcomes new students and introduces them to the Faculty, campus, and university services.
The educational work of every academic year is organized in two semesters, the fall semester and the spring semester, each of which comprises 13 weeks of teaching and two or three weeks of exams.
- Fall semester courses start in the last week of September and end in late January, followed by the first exam period of the fall semester.
- Spring semester courses start in mid February and end at the end of May, followed by the first exam period of the spring semester.
Exact dates are determined by the University Senate.
Every semester has two exam periods:
- Fall semester courses are examined during the exam period January-February and re-sit exams are held in September;
- Spring semester courses are examined during the exam period of June and re-sit exams are held in September.
The exam periods usually last for three weeks.
Every semester, before the beginning of each exam period, students have the right and obligation to evaluate their courses and instructors, in order to improve the quality of their studies. More information is available at the website of the Quality Assurance Unit (http://qa.auth.gr/en) and the website of their Faculty/School.

The International LL.B. programme of the Faculty of Law at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is presented as a major step in the Faculty’s internationalisation, building on its long-standing academic tradition and nearly a century of contribution to legal education and research.
The programme offers a fully English-taught Bachelor of Laws that combines Greek law as a reference system with a comparative study of Civil Law and Common Law traditions, with a strong focus on European Union law and Public International Law. It is designed to reflect the realities of an increasingly globalised and digital legal environment.
A central emphasis is placed on students, academic staff, and curriculum quality, aiming to develop strong legal reasoning, methodological skills, and the ability to apply law in complex international contexts. The programme also incorporates modern legal fields such as technology law, artificial intelligence, data protection, energy law, and maritime law.
It further strengthens the Faculty’s international presence through mobility programmes, particularly Erasmus+, and promotes an academic environment based on diversity, collaboration, and intellectual exchange.
Overall, the LL.B. aims to provide a modern, internationally oriented legal education that supports academic excellence, professional development, and meaningful student life within a dynamic university environment in Thessaloniki.
